A true pioneer, Ásta has never let titles get in the way of what work she chooses. After leaving her administrative post as Iceland's first Students Councelor at the University of Iceland  around 2000, she has been involved in projects ranging from private counseling, developing highly innovative study-aid utilities,, writing, women's politics conferences and much more.

Love established  Bakkastofa in Eyrarbakki where her 19th century ancestors lived and grew up. The family stories she heard from a young age give her give her a deep  insight into the village's history and culture.

Ásta recently published the highly acclaimed historical novel "What Dwells in Silence", based on her old dramatic family stories.
