A Cold War Reykjavík child is a label that has produced a great many productive artists that have made their mark on the Icelandic Cuture and Art scene.
Reykjavík was a dynamic place to grow up at the time and the post-war era was greatly influenced by the presence of an American Naval Base in the neighboring town of Keflavík.

Vigdís Vala
Vigdís Vala is both a songwriter and a lyricist, but she started composing poetry and writing as a child.
During her high school years, she was bedridden for almost three years, and then songwriting was added to her lyrics and poetry.
When she was 18 years old and the recovery process had begun, she performed at her father's sixtieth birthday concert in Harpa's Eldborg Hall.
As a birthday present, she performed his own original song and lyrics, which she named Hýjalín.
During her teenage years, she formed her own band and joined a select group of folk music.
At the beginning of his studies in psychology at the University, the music rested for several years with two exceptions. When she sang on the Bird Cantata record Valgeir and then during the season she also held a purebred Stuðmann concert at Gaukur with music friends from the past.
In the summer of 2018, the couple began working together in music performance, both for Icelanders and English-speaking guests.
The 25-year-old Vigdís Vala is now in her second year of her doctoral studies in neuroscience at the University of Iceland and in collaboration with Össur, but now combines the music with the study.
In the autumn of 2018, she started giving a concert at Geira Smart Restaurant / Canopy hotel during so-called "happy hours" which are held in the afternoon before dinner.
With her, they play Borgþór Jónsson on bass, a music friend from the past and Magnús Oddsson, a research engineer at Össur.
Through Bakkastofa, Vigdís Vala offers both concerts with her small band, cf. above, as well as with her father Valgeir Guðjónsson.
