A Cold War Reykjavík child is a label that has produced a great many productive artists that have made their mark on the Icelandic Cuture and Art scene.
Reykjavík was a dynamic place to grow up at the time and the post-war era was greatly influenced by the presence of an American Naval Base in the neighboring town of Keflavík.

Turn on the light
Turn on the light is a song that Valgeir wrote under the influence of a book Ásta Kristrúna's wife "That which dwells in the silence", which was published last Christmas.
"The Silence" is re-released this Christmas, which the author reads and Bakkastofubóndinn records in the home studio.
"Turn on the light" is a prayer poem that reminds us to ignite the light in our breasts and pass it on out of charity.
There is little that compares to the equation "give and receive" which is known as the light source of our lives. Listen and you will find!
turn on the light
turn on a light wherever you are
turn on another is better done
although the flame is sick, it shines brightly
and do not forget another light in the morning
turn on the light wherever you go
no matter how heavy the burden you carry
let it describe everything you see
and do not forget another light in the morning
although the will is weak, the hope is still strong
many things can be done
what you do is what you are
yours will be remembered for what was done
turn on a light at any time
let it shine within you
however successful and the play goes
and do not forget another light in the morning
